Burdock Root - Arctium Lappa

Origin: Brazil

Used part: Bark

Description:

The Arctium lappa L., better known as Burdock is a long and fleshy root plant having a strong medicinal power. The plant usually reaches 1.50 meters in height and its flowers may be red or blue in color. Its roots and leaves are often used to make tea in home medicine, but can also be used as food, even being eaten raw in Europe, for example, its shoots are ingested as vegetables and in Japan a variety of roots are already grown edible.

In Brazil the Burdock has an expressive growth and sometimes is considered as a weed species in the orchards of the South region. Formerly used in blends with other herbs to make skin whitening, today it has a purifying and healing function. Its roots are effective for purifying the blood, in rheumatic diseases, affections in general and digestive disorders.

Health benefits:

With so many important nutrients and medicinal properties, burdock is indicated to provide relief and even effective treatment in cases of cirrhosis, liver disease, gallstones and hepatitis. It is ideal for anyone suffering from arthritis, or even constant muscle aches, since it is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Renal, rheumatic, hepatic and digestive diseases are also easily cured with the continuous consumption of burdock.

For wounds, dermatoses and external problems in general, the plant can be used as a natural antibiotic, being applied as an extract or ointment directly in the affected area. Insect bites, hair loss, herpes, seborrhea, acnes, among many other problems, can also be treated or reduced with the consumption of burdock.

Burdock and boldo tea is a great home remedy for gallstone because burdock has anti-inflammatory action, helping to reduce inflammation of the gallbladder and boldo stimulates the elimination of bile and consequently the gall bladder through feces.

When a stone is formed in the gallbladder, scientifically called a gallstone, it can become trapped in the gallbladder or go into the bile ducts. In the latter case, the calculation can obstruct the passage of bile, causing symptoms such as severe pain in the upper right side of the abdomen, and surgery is the only form of treatment.

Thus, this home remedy should only be used with the doctor's knowledge when the gallstones are still in the gallbladder and did not pass into the bile ducts, because in this case may cause worsening of symptoms.
