Ginseng Root - Panax ginseng CA Meyer

Origin: Korea

Used part: Root

Description:

With a taste similar to that of ginger, the plant known as ginseng, scientifically named Panax ginseng, is widely used in Chinese medicine as a way to increase quality of life and longevity. Its root, although full of benefits, has a slow growth, and can be harvested only between four and six years of planting. This is due to the fact that the ginsenoside, active ingredient of the root, only reaches its maximum during this period.

Ginseng is a medicinal root widely used in Chinese medicine because of its incredible properties that help to reduce stress and fatigue, improving the quality of life and providing longevity. This plant is adaptive, that is, its constituents are able to act in different situations, not only in front of a specific condition, and thus have several benefits.

Health benefits:

Korean or Chinese ginseng, scientifically called Panax ginseng, is stimulant and serves to treat circulatory problems. American ginseng, scientifically called Panax quinquefolius, has the opposite effect and is soothing and useful for controlling stress, helping sleep and treating depression. Indian ginseng improves blood circulation and is useful for improving intimate contact and can also be used to prevent or aid in the treatment of cancer.

Ginseng is a memory protector. This is due to the many flavonoids present in its chemical composition that inhibit the occurrence of micro-spills and clots by improving circulation and preventing aggregation of blood platelets. The plant is used in cases of patients being treated with the use of chemo or radiotherapy for alleviating the damage caused to the body by both treatments. As an anti-aging ginseng is also widely used because of its antioxidant action increasing longevity.

Due to its contribution in combating physical and mental stress the plant is used before physical training or long study days, being quite popular among athletes and young people, for promoting more disposition to the body and to make the person more active and alert.
