Black Tea - Thea sinensis Kuntze
Used part: Leaf and stem
The difference between green tea and black tea is the treatment of leaves, because both come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, yet in green tea the leaves are cooler, in black tea the leaves are passed by the heat, oxidized and fermented, which makes its flavor even more intense and slightly changes its medicinal properties.
Black tea has many attributions. Among them are the power against fatigue, premature aging and fearsome migraines. It can also treat diarrhea, stress and gastric problems. Some of the benefits mentioned only exist because of the presence of caffeine in black tea. Thanks to this substance the infusion becomes an excellent stimulant of the Central Nervous System (CNS).
Another great positive effect of black tea is diabetes control. But in addition, literature affirm a potential of this infusion in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and cancer. In the case of diabetes, this effect is believed to be a result of reduced blood glucose. It is also important to note that the herb is still used to combat obesity, one of the factors that leads to diabetes. The plant has flavonoids, when consumed, inhibit the enzyme lipase. Without it, fats are not digested, and some fats obtained through feed are eliminated and not absorbed. The bioflavonoids and caffeine facilitate the passage of fatty plaques through the vessels because of their vasodilator properties. These fats go to the liver where they can be destroyed, preventing them from depositing in the arteries.
