Hangover remedy and other health benefits of Boldo Tea

Boldo Chileno Solto Tea - Peumus boldus

Origin: Chile

Used part: Leaf

Description:

Make no mistake, the boldo of Chile is not equal to the boldo-brasileiro. Although they have properties similarities, these are different plants. The first one can reach up to 12 meters in height, while the compatriot does not exceed two meters.

With up to six meters in height, Peumus boldus belongs to the Monimiaceae family and is popularly known as Chilean boldo, this plant is rich in various medicinal properties that have been used by Chilean natives for many years. From all parts of the herb, only the leaf is used to provide benefits to the body in the form of tea, tincture or extracts. Its leaves were studied for the first time in Europe by French Dujerdin-Baumez in 1.869. In 1987, Claude Verne describes for the first time the boldine, alkaloid responsible for its digestive effect.

Health benefits:

Timidly soothing, this herb can promote a relaxation in who consumes it, so it can be ingested before sleeping in order to improve sleep. In addition, like any plant used to make teas, the boldo also contains diuretic abilities, improving the functioning of the urinary system, and reducing edema and body swelling, such as during PMS.

However, amid so many benefits, the boldo can stand out for the actions in the digestive system. It reduces the symptoms of heartburn and gastritis, decreases the formation of gas, relieves the digestive signs caused by food intolerance and aids digestion, especially after consumption of foods considered "heavy." All this without counting the power of treatment of the constipation.

Normally, alcoholic beverages contain little or no nutritional benefit. Its excess consumption is related to health problems such as malnutrition, liver, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and even type 2 diabetes. In addition to these problems that may arise in the long run, the consumption of alcoholic beverages can also harm people's health in a short period of time. The famous hangover appears the day after the drunkenness and is marked by severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fatigue, etc. But it can be treated with the use of boldo.

Other benefits of this herb are: elimination of gallstones, liver disorders, liver failure, biliary pain and liver colic. Chile's boldo is also useful in cases where there is excess uric acid in the body and works as a great sleep stimulant.

Directions:

The boldo leaves can be used both fresh and dried. They are the main ingredient for preparing tea. Therefore, they can be used soon after harvest or after purchase.

Despite the bitter taste it must be consumed soon after the preparation and without the addition of sugar because the drink ends up fermenting very fast. This means that the medicinal properties of the tea can be altered, damaging the digestion process of the organism. Therefore, as soon as the drink is ready, the consumption should be done immediately.

Preparation:

  1. Infuse in a liter of boiling water 1 tablespoon of Boldo
  2. Turn off the heat and set aside for ten minutes
