It is a tree originally found in the Brazilian Amazon and Atlantic Forest, which can be found naturally in the Piauí to the north of Paraná, in the semi-deciduous broadleaf forest. In the cerrado occurs the species H. stigonocarpa, also known as Jatobá. With a height between 15 and 20 m and a trunk that reaches 1 m in diameter, its leaves have two brilliant leaflets of 6 to 14 cm in length. The fruit is an indehiscent, rather hard pod.
The properties of jatobá include its astringent, antibacterial, antispasmodic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, balsamic, decongestant, diuretic, stimulant, expectorant, fortifier, hepatoprotective, laxative, tonic and vermifuge.

- Poor digestion
- Prostate problems
- Cough and laryngitis
- Put 3 tablespoons to a quart of water
- Let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes from the moment it starts to boil
- Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 10 minutes
- Strain and is ready for use

Take 2 to 3 cups a day.
