Description:
It is a tree originally found in the Brazilian Amazon and Atlantic Forest, which can be found naturally in the Piauí to the north of Paraná, in the semi-deciduous broadleaf forest. In the cerrado occurs the species H. stigonocarpa, also known as Jatobá. With a height between 15 and 20 m and a trunk that reaches 1 m in diameter, its leaves have two brilliant leaflets of 6 to 14 cm in length. The fruit is an indehiscent, rather hard pod.
