Originally from the Mediterranean region, rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) is widely used in home medicine and is considered a great herbal remedy, one of the most complete in terms of health benefits. It is also known by other names such as rosemary, scent rosemary and rosemary. In addition to the aforementioned denominations, rosemary is also called "herb of joy", due to the essential oils present in its composition, which favor the production of neurotransmitters responsible for well-being.

  1. Add 2 tablespoons of herb to one liter of water
  2. Turn off when it reaches boil
  3. Remove from the heat and leave the pan (capped) to stand for 10 minutes

The used parts of rosemary are its leaves, which can be used to season foods and flowers to make tea and baths.

  • Rosemary tea for digestive problems and inflammation of the throat: put 4 g of leaves in a cup of boiling water and let stand for 10 minutes. Then strain and drink 3 cups a day, after meals;
  • Rosemary bath for rheumatism: put 50 g of Rosemary in 1 liter of boiling water, cover, let stand for 30 minutes and strain. Then use this water during the bath.

At high doses, rosemary can cause gastrointestinal irritation and pain in the kidneys. Another recommendation is to avoid its use at night time as it can impair sleep. This plant is contraindicated in cases of pregnancy, gastroenteritis, epilepsy and prostate problems.
