The rue is well known among people for being an herb used to scare away the evil eye. But what few people know is that this same rue has medicinal properties that can be useful in the process of treating and curing many other diseases. In this sense, the most usual form is through the preparation of the infusion, in this case, the rue tea.
Species named Ruta graveolens, the rue belongs to the Rutacae family and to the genus Ruta. The rue has in its composition essential oil, flavonoids, methylnocilcetone, furacoumarins, alkaloids, tannins and rutin, the latter being its most important substance. Routine is responsible for providing resistance to blood vessels, this being its main attribute.

The rue is indicated to induce and regulate the menstrual flow, besides ending the intense pain caused by the contraction of the uterus. This is possible thanks to the stimulus that substances in the herbs cause in the muscle fibers of the uterus. For this reason, the plant is not indicated for treatment among pregnant women or who are planning to become pregnant, because in these cases, it has an abortive effect.
The rue tea is also indicated to improve blood circulation, preventing the accumulation of fat in plaques on the inner walls of vessels. The presence of vitamin P, or rutin, strengthens the blood vessels, preventing their rupture. The drink is also indicated to treat problems related to the urinary system: it facilitates the filtering of the blood by the kidneys and reduces the swelling of the lower limbs.
