Description:

Seven-sangrias, having its scientific name (Cuphea carthagenensis), is a herbaceous class plant and may also be known by other popular names like guanxuma-red, balsamone, chiagari, cuféa or blood-herb. Being native to South America, this plantis slightly branched and is 20 to 60 cm high and can be harvested between December and February. As a characteristic, it has its stalk rough and coated by reddish hairs. Its leaves are green and simple, with its pinkish-purple flowers. According to the theory of "body signatures" advocated by Paracelsus, in which plants bring the shape of the part of the body that benefit, the seven-sangrias, comes bringing the format and color similar to the blood vessels, area in which it acts in the human body when properly ingested.

The entire plant can be used, most commonly used in teas, such as root tea, used to combat pain; but can also be used in alcoholic extract and syrup and in dressings and patches made with leaves for skin treatments such as ulcers and wounds.
