Quit Smoking with Natural Expectorant Tayuya Tea

Tayuya - Cayaponia Tayuya M.

Origin: Brazil

Used part: Root

Description:

Tayuya (Cayaponia tayuya) is a woody vine found throughout the Amazon rainforest in South America. Tayuya is known by several botanical names, but all of these names refer to the same plant, a member of the gourd family. Rainforest people have been using Tayuya since prehistoric times, and Tayuya tea is still popular in Brazil today. This Amazon plant contains actives called cucurbitacins and glucosides, and other plant antioxidants have been isolated in the root.

Health benefits:

It is indicated for respiratory problems like chronic emphysema, asthma, bronchitis, cough and whooping cough. It can be used to expel mucus. Many people make use of Tayuya tea to fight against smoking because their substances replace nicotine in the body.

Good Herbal Remedy:

  • Arthritis
  • Acne
  • Depression
  • Eczema
  • Anemia
  • Epilepsy
  • Bleeding

Directions:

  1. Put 2 tbsp to a quart of water
  2. Let it cook for 3 minutes from the time it starts to boil
  3. Remove from the heat and leave to stand, covered, for 10 minutes
  4. Strain and is ready for use

How to Drink:

Take 2 to 3 cups a day.

Some people make external use of the taiuia as healing. To do this, make a kind of paste with the leaves of the plant, so you just macerate the leaves and mix with a glass of cold water until you can form a kind of cream. Then just put water to boil and apply as follows: place the paste on top of the wound and place a warm cloth that has been immersed in this boiling water. Keep the cloth on the paste until it cools down.

Contraindications:

Because of cucurbitacin, a toxic substance in the Tayuya, an adult can only take up to 20ml of the tea per day and preserve the interval of up to 12 hours until the next dose. Because of this, it is contraindicated that children, pregnant women, infants or elderly people with fragile health should take tea.
